Following the graduation of Matt Rambo and Colin Heacock, the Terps have put more of a playmaking burden on Kelly. He has thrived in his new role, leading the Terps with 19 assists through six games. Many of the passes Kelly has made are high-level, cross-field, cross-body pull passes. Even though he is staying and playing on attack for fast break shooting opportunities, Kelly still primarily dodges from the midfield where top-down feeds are much more difficult than passing at X. In his senior season, Kelly is exposing two-slides and putting on a passing clinic on par with some of the best passing midfielders of recent history: Myles Jones, Tom Schreiber and Paul Rabil.
